A meeting of the Hotel Association of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation and catering owners was held under the chairmanship of Mayor V. Virajesh. The activities taken by the Central Government to address the issue of food safety were highlighted in the meeting by the Mayor.

He directed that the prices of food items should not increase and that bottled water should be provided for drinking in shops. Special squads will be formed to strictly crack down on those who hoard food and black marketeers. The students and their parents are worried about the closure of hostels during the examination period. The mayor said that students will not be forced to leave the hostel during the examination period due to the fear of not getting food.

If hospitals and hotels are not able to provide food, the municipality will start a community kitchen. No one will be able to get food. This will be discussed in the all-party meeting to be held today. 101 council members will hold an online meeting and a decision will be taken on the matter of the community kitchen, Virajesh said.
