Grami SuperFoods which is 100 percent healthy, organic, traditional, and natural which the entire process takes place from Farm to dine is planning to introduce its World’s first Millet Based Soups into the market.

Grami SuperFoods Started off as a Journey back to the roots of healthy living, in pursuit of soul food that nourishes and heals one’s mind, body, and soul. Organic and Untainted. Natural in all its Glory. Food in the Indian tradition has always been about nurturing one’s body and soul. Grami SuperFoods started off as a Journey- a Journey back to the roots of healthy living, in pursuit of traditional food that nourishes and heals one’s mind, body, and soul. We were in search of foods that were Organic and Untainted.

Mr. Jay Jaykumar

Initial stages
GramiSuperFoods was started in 2016, the main objective of this brand was to consider future health. One of the biggest challenges is the connectivity in rural and urban markets. There is a lot of demand for healthy foods all over the supply chain but the space from the farmers to the urban market was not there. “Everyone needs food in the urban market and that’s how we saw the opportunities and moved in and we wanted to connect that channel”. Said Mr. Jay Jaykumar – CEO and Co-founder – GramiSuperFoods

Demand Changes
India has always stuck to healthy and organic foods for a very long period of time. People have even started putting up their own gardening and consuming their own vegetables in their backyard. When more of the urban style got more, the people started to avoid their concentrations towards their health, more contaminations on the food chain grew tremendously. This is the right time to work it out, bringing back our traditional lifestyle and keeping healthy.

“We have been hearing ‘Annam Aushadham’ which is always true, people are coming back now to look into their health and urban lifestyle” added Jay.

Health Benefits of Millets
Millet is one of the best possible grains to add to your diet to protect your heart. It is a rich source of magnesium, which is an important mineral for reducing blood pressure and the risk of heart attacks. Millet is also a great source of potassium, which further keeps blood pressure low by acting as a vasodilator. Reducing your blood pressure and optimizing your circulatory system is one of the best ways to protect your cardiovascular health. Furthermore, the plant lignans found in millet can be converted to animal lignans by the microflora in our digestive system, and those animal lignans have been shown to protect against certain chronic diseases, like cancer and heart disease. The millet industry is a good investment opportunity and has seen a 100 percent year-on-year growth. Grami has its hopes high in the millet segment and is confident that millet will hold the title for ‘Grain of the 21st Century. By 2023, the company forecasts a further boost in millet production.

“People can always eat healthily and not worry about the taste and diet. We spend a lot of time doing the sensory evaluation, sensory test and go with overseas technology. These foods can always be regulated in people’s regular food style”. added Jay.

Protection Against Diabetes
Grami SuperFoods mainly concentrated on the preventive aspects of Diabetes. Millet is a beneficial food staple in many developing countries (where diabetes is less frequently found), perhaps because one of the effects of millet is a reduced chance of Type 2 diabetes, thanks to the significant levels of magnesium found in this particular grain. Magnesium is considered one of the most important minerals for increasing the efficiency of insulin and glucose receptors in the body, thereby preventing this disease. A 30% reduction in diabetes has been seen in populations divided between diets with or without magnesium.

“We have a preventive segment and we are coming up with drinks which are close to curative and have found a lot of traditional foods and now we have food habits that also help you to manage once you have crossed that threshold of being a diabetic patient”. added Jay.

HoReCa
Grami SuperFoods is already into the HoReCa segment as they have a healthy category in their portal. Grami SuperFoods have made itself constantly visible and available some events that have been taking place in Hotels and they provide the products. Customers are always there from Rajkot, Delhi, and Bangalore taking the goods in bulk and adding it up in their mainstream. In terms of packing size for HoReCa, Grami SuperFoods provides packs that serve around 25 numbers.

“Mainstream companies are coming out with healthier offerings because healthy foods are the growing market and slowly HoReCa is turning around and can be seen in the regular menu”. added Jay.

Expansion Plan
Grami SuperFoods group planning to bring up healthy drinks and millet-based soups which is going to be a unique one. People have really forgotten about the real traditional way of making so the brand is bringing ready-to-eat products like coffee, tea, lemon tea, and so on. “We are very excited finally to bring these ready-to-drink products into the market. In terms of international expansion, we are doing a small export to the US and California”. concluded Jay.
