Indian Accent is all set to delight Mumbai with its unique culinary creations. This marks the restaurant’s third outpost, with a second branch already thriving in New York’s Thompson Central Park. In 2009, Indian Accent, led by the creative genius of Chef Manish Mehrotra, brought a culinary revolution to New Delhi that resonated throughout the Indian culinary industry.

Until then, fine dining restaurants primarily served regional Indian cuisine in its traditional form. Indian Accent, however, dared to transform beloved Indian dishes while preserving their core flavors. Imagine naan stuffed with blue cheese, raita infused with wasabi, and a ‘hundred-layer’ paneer dish. The innovation not only won hearts but also accolades, with the restaurant consistently ranking as #19 on Asia’s Best Restaurants List for nine consecutive years and securing a spot on Time Magazine’s ‘World’s 100 Greatest Places.’

At Indian Accent Mumbai, Chef Rijul Gulati, who has spent nearly eight years honing his craft at the New Delhi Indian Accent, takes the lead in the kitchen. He brings the same culinary experience that the restaurant is celebrated for to Mumbai, offering dishes deeply rooted in Indian cuisine but presented with imaginative, contemporary twists.

Regular patrons of Indian Accent will be delighted to find their favorite dishes on the menu, including cult classics like blue cheese naan, Indian Accent shorba, and daulat ki chaat. The Mumbai menu also features other Indian Accent signatures, such as meetha achaar with green apple, ghee roast soya boti served with a selection of chutneys, laccha paratha, and a roomali roti pancake, most of which are available on the à la carte menu.

Additionally, Chef Mehrotra, the culinary director of Indian Accent, and Chef Gulati have crafted special Mumbai-exclusive dishes. These include the burrata chaat with lotus root papdi and mustard tomato jam—a creative take on the burrata trend—and the spicy-sour gunpowder prawns served with red rice and a smoked chili and raw mango curry. The Mumbai menu features a broader selection of seafood and vegetarian options, catering to local preferences and produce.

For those seeking a quick and delectable lunch, Indian Accent offers a special business lunch menu, fittingly located in BKC, Mumbai’s upscale business district. Dietary restrictions are also accommodated, with vegan, gluten-free, and Jain menus available.

The bar menu, curated by Varun Sharma, who also oversees the award-winning bars at Comorin and Hosa, EHV’s other restaurants, complements the culinary offerings. Embracing the Art Deco theme, the cocktails at Indian Accent pay homage to the Jazz Age. Expect concoctions like the brandy-forward Bombay Sling with citrus, orange, and grenadine, and the Raspberry Rickey made with gin, raspberry, citrus, and soda. Wine enthusiasts will find plenty to choose from, with wine pairings available for the chef’s tasting menu.

The restaurant’s interior design, a collaboration between London-based Russell Sage Studio, Rohini Kapur (EHV’s design director), and Vikas Bhasin (director of development), pays homage to Mumbai’s rich Art Deco heritage. The warm and inviting ambiance features curved mirrors, statement lamps, light installations, rounded chairs, and tables, all reflecting the bygone era of Art Deco. With 75 seats, two private rooms, and an attached interactive slow kitchen, Indian Accent Mumbai offers a versatile dining experience. For those looking to soak in the Art Deco ambiance, the bar is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink and take in the splendid surroundings.

Indian Accent’s arrival in Mumbai promises to be a culinary journey that fuses tradition with innovation, offering a taste of the past in a contemporary setting—a true celebration of Indian cuisine in all its glory.
