Butterfly Ayurveda, a woman-led brand known for its Ayurvedic teas, cookies, and medicines, has recently launched Café Swasthya at sector 49, Eros City Square, Gurugram, on January 16, 2025.

Café Swasthya offers an Ayurveda-inspired menu within a contemporary and cozy setting. With a focus on holistic well-being, the café offers herbal teas, unique coffees, fresh juices, herb-infused lattes, and a range of wholesome meals and Ayurveda-inspired bakery items. Each item on the menu is made using natural ingredients aimed at balancing the body’s tridosha.

The concept of Café Swasthya emerged from the need to promote ‘healthy eating’ and ‘healthy living,’ bridging the gap between generations and encouraging a deeper understanding and practice of Ayurveda in everyday life. The name of the café comes from the traditional wisdom of Ayurveda, where health is defined as ‘Swasthya,’ meaning to be rooted in oneself.

The café’s commitment to authenticity and wellness is reflected in its core principles:

  • 100% Natural Ingredients: Freshly milled flours, fresh fruits and vegetables, authentic herbs, and spices.

  • No Artificial Additives: Free from artificial flavoring, preservatives, colors, and scents.

  • Research-Backed Recipes: Designed to balance the body’s tridosha and promote overall health.

  • Serving Taste with Health: A perfect balance of deliciousness and well-being in every bite.

  • Educational Experience: Encourages customers to learn about their bodies and make informed choices.

“Metabolic dysfunction, often unnoticed by many, is one of the most prevalent health issues across the world today. It can lead to a variety of serious conditions, such as cardiovascular problems, liver disorders, and general weakness. Our goal is to help individuals become more aware of their unique body-mind constitution and make mindful eating choices to improve their overall well-being. Through this, we aim to bring the ancient wisdom of Ayurveda into daily life,” says Ms. Akshi Khandelwal, Founder & CEO of Butterfly Ayurveda, who started the café with investment support from her father, Mr. Naveen Khandelwal.

The design of Café Swasthya incorporates the principles of Ayurveda in a visually striking way. The interiors showcase the essence of Indian heritage with handcrafted bamboo ceilings, Rajasthani upholstery, teak wood furniture, and a classic mud wall display featuring Butterfly Ayurveda’s products. This thoughtful decor promotes sustainability and creates a serene atmosphere.

Adding to the experience, the café’s walls are adorned with photographs and artwork explaining the Ayurvedic principles of Panchamahabhut (five great elements) and tridoshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha), offering an enriching experience for all visitors.

One of the standout features of Café Swasthya is the ‘Prakriti Quiz,’ which helps customers understand their body-mind constitution by scanning a QR code on the menu. This optional quiz guides patrons in making choices that suit their unique needs.

“Café Swasthya is carving out a niche for itself in Gurugram. We are happy with the positive response to our menu and ambiance, and we look forward to growing this space into a hub of wellness and community,” shares Ms. Khandelwal.

Committed to enhancing daily life through Ayurveda, Café Swasthya plans to host workshops and events focused on wellness and holistic living.
