The market of juices is constantly growing and is valued at approximately $1.3 billion in 2024, is projected to reach over $2.2 billion by 2033, driven by a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 6.4%.

Catering to this growth is the cold-pressed juice market which is experiencing remarkable growth, driven by a surge in consumer health consciousness. This innovative juicing method, which preserves the nutrients and flavors of fruits and vegetables, has captured the attention of health-oriented individuals seeking natural and chemical-free options. Cold-pressed juices are seen as a healthier alternative and a convenient choice for busy lifestyles.

As the market evolves, brands are focusing on unique flavor combinations and seasonal ingredients to attract consumers. The emphasis on transparency in sourcing and production further enhances consumer trust. With projections indicating continued growth in this segment, cold-pressed juices are poised to redefine the beverage landscape in India, appealing to a diverse range of health-conscious consumers seeking quality and innovation.

To dwell more on this aspect, we spoke to some industry experts about the changing trends of the cold press juice industry, the innovative flavor combinations currently trending in the juice industry, and how they are transforming traditional juice offerings.

Ujvala Vempa, Founder of Bot Organic, emphasizes the transformative potential of cold-pressed juices in the Indian market, stating, “The rise of health consciousness among consumers in India has created a fertile ground for cold-pressed juices to thrive. At Bot Organic, we have witnessed a significant shift in consumer preferences towards healthier alternatives. Our cold-pressed juices are not only organic but also free from preservatives and additives, aligning with the growing demand for clean-label products. This trend is not just about taste; it reflects a deeper understanding of nutrition and wellness. Consumers are increasingly aware of the benefits of fresh, nutrient-rich juices, which has led to a surge in interest and sales. As we continue to innovate and expand our offerings, we are committed to educating our customers about the importance of quality ingredients and sustainable practices. The future of cold-pressed juices in India looks promising, and we are excited to be at the forefront of this movement.”

The industry also has now invented several innovative flavor fusions that are now ongoing in the market: “Innovative flavors such as cranberry, green apple, and mixed berries are gaining traction in the juice market, yet the foundation remains rooted in traditional favorites.” This highlights the delicate balance brands must strike between introducing new flavors and maintaining the familiar tastes that consumers love.

Rohiet Bagri, Director, Habhit Wellness , added on the innovative flavor fusions that are now ongoing in the market said, “Innovative flavors such as cranberry, green apple, and mixed berries are gaining traction in the juice market, yet the foundation remains rooted in traditional favorites. While consumers are increasingly open to trying exotic combinations, their preference for sweetness often prevails. The current trend toward healthier options, characterized by low or no sugar, faces a significant hurdle: many consumers still associate enjoyment with sweetness. Phrases like “thoda meetha hota toh maza aata” “thoda meetha hota toh maza aata” (if a little bit sugar is added, then it would be yummy) underscore this fixation on taste, revealing that satisfaction often stems from familiar flavors rather than adventurous ones. Exotic flavors can certainly stimulate trial and interest, but a robust portfolio of classic flavors is essential for brands aiming to achieve volume sales. Ultimately, while innovation is vital, it is the balance of traditional and novel flavors that will drive sustained growth in the juice market.

Sushil Kumar, Head, Marketing and Operations at More Orgo, shares his insights on the evolving landscape of cold-pressed juices, “The cold-pressed juice market in India is witnessing unprecedented growth, driven by a combination of health awareness and lifestyle changes. As more people adopt healthier eating habits, they are turning to cold-pressed juices as a convenient source of nutrition. At MORE ORGO, we focus on sourcing the finest organic ingredients to create juices that not only taste great but also provide essential vitamins and minerals. Our research indicates that consumers are looking for transparency in sourcing and production processes, which is why we emphasize our commitment to sustainability and ethical practices.”

Moreover, the increase in disposable income among urban consumers has made premium cold press juices more accessible. With health trends gaining traction, many consumers are willing to invest in high-quality, nutrient-rich products, leading to a surge in demand. E-commerce platforms have further facilitated this growth, allowing brands to reach a wider audience and offering convenient delivery options.

Shwetha Rajashekar, Co-Founder, India Sweet House, continued by saying, “The juice industry is seeing a surge in demand for innovative flavor combinations that fuse traditional ingredients with modern twists. Consumers increasingly gravitate towards exotic flavors and healthier options, driven by a heightened awareness of wellness and a desire for unique taste experiences. This shift is prompting juice manufacturers to incorporate health-focused ingredients that provide added benefits, such as antioxidants and digestive aids, exemplified by products like Nimbu Paani and Chatpata Chaas. Additionally, there is a rising demand for exotic flavors rooted in culture yet presented with a modern twist, as seen in juices like Aam Panna and Kokum Quench. The move towards low-sugar, naturally sweetened options is evident, making beverages like Mint Magic appealing to those seeking refreshing alternatives.”

The cold-pressed juice market in India is on an upward trajectory, driven by increasing health awareness and a demand for natural, nutrient-rich beverages. As consumers gravitate towards healthier options, cold-pressed juices are becoming a staple for those seeking convenience without compromising on quality. With innovative flavor combinations and a focus on transparency in sourcing, brands are responding to evolving consumer preferences. This segment not only promises sustained growth but also reflects a broader shift towards wellness in the beverage industry.
