The hospitality industry has seen significant growth in recent years. Over the last decade, customer expectations have also changed. New technologies have become essential, and customers are more selective than ever. Amenities like gyms or health facilities, once offered exclusively by high-end hotels over the past 30 years, are now available in mid-range hotels as well. Today, strong, and reliable Wi-Fi is a basic requirement to ensure customer satisfaction. Additionally, sustainability and environmental care have become important to both travellers and business owners. Many in the hospitality industry have adopted renewable energy solutions, and customers are increasingly opting for electric vehicles (EVs). Projections from the International Energy Agency indicate that by 2030, 50% of new vehicles will be electric.
For hotels, this shift presents both challenges and opportunities. Modern travellers expect sustainable options, and the rising number of guests with EVs necessitates convenient charging solutions during their stay. EV charging infrastructure is no longer just an eco-friendly perk but a practical necessity that influences where customers choose to stay. Hotels that adapt to this trend position themselves as essential hubs for sustainable and EV-friendly travel.
Unlike conventional fuel stations operated by large oil companies, which take only 3-5 minutes for refuelling, EV charging requires more time. AC chargers typically take 8-10 hours, while DC fast chargers take 45-60 minutes, depending on the vehicle. This means that more charging stations are needed, and guests will seek productive ways to use their time while charging. Hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, malls, and other venues where customers can spend an hour or more are ideal for offering this service.
Nowadays, all major online booking platforms list EV charging stations as an amenity, and this trend is expanding to restaurants as well. This feature provides a competitive edge in attracting customers.
Charge point operators (CPOs) are available nationwide to assist with setting up and monitoring charging stations. An additional benefit is that these stations do not require on-site staff, as customers can operate them independently. CPOs also handle maintenance remotely. These devices are equipped with AI and IoT, making them smart and efficient. Currently, most of our installations are in hotels and restaurants, where clients are generating additional revenue and attracting more customers. The return on investment (ROI) for these charging stations is typically under two years, making them an attractive option for any business.
