Superfoods Valley, a nutrition and food-tech firm, has teamed with nutrition professionals, food scientists, nutrition technologists, and wellness experts to try to solve India’s nutritional gap with its unique solutions.

Superfoods Valley was founded by Amarpreet Singh Anand and now has the trust, support, and expertise of former National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) Director Dr B Sesikeran; Dr P R Krishnaswamy (ex-director and founder, Protein Foods and Nutrition Development Association of India); Dr Shovan Ganguli, food researcher and scientist; Sheela Krishnaswamy, nutrition and wellness expert; and Mallika Janakiraman (nutrition strategy advisor & consultant).

With its innovative products and data-backed tech solutions, the Bengaluru-based company wants to encourage nutritional transparency, bridge the nutrition gap, and make nutrition easy and accessible for all to combat the ongoing endemic of hidden hunger and micronutrient deficiencies.

“Superfoods Valley has taken on the mission of making nutrition a major point of every home so that they can choose the appropriate kind of foods and avoid the bad ones. Malnutrition does not just refer to a lack of nutrition; it also refers to an excess of nutrition. Undernutrition was a greater worry a few decades ago.
However, we now have more overfed children and even adults. There are numerous reasons for this, including the country’s economic progress and improved living standards, less physical exercise, more refined diets, and fewer traditional home foods, among others”
Dr Sesikeran said.

“Our calorie intake and macronutrients are practically taken care of thanks to the government’s various fortification measures in the past and expanded availability of food. However, there is growing concern regarding micronutrient deficiencies such as vitamin D, vitamin B12, and vitamin A, which influence childhood growth and can sometimes lead to stunting concerns. Using technology to overcome this problem and reach a bigger and deeper audience with the message of consuming nutritious food is a significant step ahead” said Dr Ganguli.

Janakiraman says “There is an abundance of nutrition-related information on social media. For the same health concern, you may find ten alternative remedies, leaving the buyer perplexed. Any new inventive solution must be 360 degrees and sustainable, which is why Superfoods Valley’s endeavour is so achievable”.
