The Famous Restaurant for Prawn Biriyani has women ‘Parotta Masters’

“Master !!” is a common word that we hear around when we are roaming around the Chennai roads, we see a lot of restaurants and hotels around who makes porotta. These porotta are mostly made by gents. But have you heard about the porotta that are made by women ?. Then there is the right place for you at East Tambaram. “SS Only” restaurant which is famous for their prawns biriyani serves porotta in which the masters are women.

Chennai is one of the most important and notified places for the love of seafood. Well, the seafood is in different segments, like mixed fried rice, curry, fry, and so on. One of the unique segments is Prawn Biriyani although that is common in Chennai, you won’t be able to find ‘Prawn Biriyani’ that is made in a traditional way of home style. The seafood aroma is the unique feel which is present in this biriyani.

‘SS Only’ is a restaurant which initially started its first branch at East Tambaram almost two months back has gained attraction for their famous prawn’s biriyani. This is made in the traditional way which is applicable from the purchasing of the ingredients till the biriyani is served at the table. The main importance that makes the biriyani or other food items that are made at SS Only is mainly about the kitchen process which is completely taken care of by the women staff.

“I gave the entire credits to the women team who is working behind this. They are the real heroes of our group. I know they can do it. If I am launching 1000kg biriyani also, they can do it and I don’t want any men to take over”. Says Mr. K.Babu majini Owner, SS Only, East Tambaram.

The day at ‘SS Only’ starts at 2:00 am as the staff goes for the purchase of prawns directly from the seaside to get the fresh ones. The fresh ones are evenly checked and evaluated before the purchase. The purchased prawns are then bought at the restaurant and cleaned thoroughly. The cleaning process is very important which is done very carefully and accurately. The re-checking process after the cleaning is done double the time by other staff too before it is cooked.

“The purchase of certain ingredients like oil, ghee, masalas is very critical in the selection as we don’t want to buy anything just for the formality of making. The taste of the biriyani needs to be identified from the customer’s smile. We look into the quality of our food first, then only comes the profit”. added Babu.

Making
Anybody going to ‘SS Only’ for eating ‘Prawns Biriyani’ cannot find it every day, as they have a specific day on which the Prawns Biriyani is made. Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday are the days on which they serve Prawns Biriyani. This is because they contribute a lot of time to the purchasing and cleaning process to get a fine taste of it. The ingredients are finely made ready at the restaurants to make this biriyani. The selection of rice is for this are particular on their quality which they don’t want to sacrifice to a small or big profit. “We have customers who come from Egmore for our prawn’s biriyani. I think this is not because they cannot find any other hotels or restaurants there nearby. That is about the taste and quality of what we give”. added Babu.



Healthy

The ingredients that are added to the food items at ‘SS Only’ are selected on accurate patterns of measurement with no variations. This is followed to avoid the difference in the dish if a customer comes and eats next time. Groundnut oil and Gingelly oil are used in most of the food items that are made there. The entire masala like sambar powder, chilly powder, Kashmiri chill and so many are made from the grinding process which is done manually. People who are having diabetics also approach ‘SS Only’ for eating the fine chapati and porotta which is made there. Those are being directly door-delivered.

“Nobody will complain lack of prawns inside the biriyani. We mix 1kg rice with 2 kg of prawns. The aroma of the seafood flavor is the main feeling you get when you eat prawn biriyani at ‘SS Only’. Normally porotta making means it is the credit given to masters but at ‘SS Only’ porotta means it is the women staff who wins the credits”. Added Babu.

Expansion
‘SS Only’ is already available on Instagram and Facebook. The brand has just started to establish with its famous prawns biriyani. They are planning to further expand their brand with the combination of chicken and mutton biriyani.


“We want to establish the brand in every five km radius in Chennai and all the managing staff will be women. Since there is a demand for homely food, the main marketing we will be focusing on will be traditional marketing”. Concluded Babu.
