Celebrity Chef Kunal Kapur has officially opened the doors to Pincode in Bengaluru, marking the latest expansion of his flagship restaurant brand. Located in the city’s vibrant culinary hub, Pincode is designed as a “living scrapbook” of India’s vast gastronomic landscape, where every dish is tied to a specific geographical identity and the personal nostalgia associated with it.

The Bengaluru outlet follows the brand’s successful international debut in Dubai and its domestic launch in New Delhi. The core philosophy of Pincode remains focused on “unlocking” the hidden flavors of India’s various postal codes, elevating home-style recipes into a sophisticated dining experience.

The Concept: A Map of Flavors At Pincode, the menu acts as a curated journey across India’s diverse regions. Chef Kapur has focused on the “sensory geography” of the country, sourcing techniques and ingredients that are often overlooked in mainstream commercial Indian cuisine.

Menu Highlights at Pincode Bengaluru:

  • The Dhokla Chaat: A playful reimagining of the Gujarati classic, bringing a balance of textures and tanginess.

  • Pressure Cooker Mutton Curry: A tribute to the Sunday family lunches of North India, slow-cooked to replicate the deep, spice-infused flavors of a home kitchen.

  • Malabar Plum Cake: Drawing inspiration from the coastal bakeries of Kerala, this dessert bridges the gap between colonial influence and local spice traditions.

  • Regional Small Plates: The Bengaluru menu features an expanded section of “Tidbits,” including Mangalorean-inspired seafood and street-food favorites from Old Delhi’s narrow lanes.

Design and Ambiance: The restaurant’s interiors reflect the theme of a modern post office fused with traditional Indian motifs. From ceramic accents to artwork that depicts various Indian landscapes, the space is designed to evoke a sense of travel and discovery. The open-plan layout encourages a communal dining atmosphere, consistent with the Indian tradition of sharing meals.

Chef Kunal Kapur’s Vision: Commenting on the Bengaluru launch, Chef Kapur noted that the city’s well-traveled and discerning diners were a primary reason for the expansion. “Bengaluru has a unique way of embracing both the global and the local. With Pincode, I wanted to bring the soul of India’s kitchens—the specific aromas that belong to a certain street or a certain town—and present them with the respect they deserve,” he stated.
